oba Gangnam style!!!!!

Today I want to introduce a song called Gangnam Style, which is the most popluar song in 2012. Why I introduce this song? Because I wasn’t good at any dance…… But there is only one type of dance I can dance…… It is Gangnam Style!!!
Park Jae-sang is a South Korean singer, who is better known by his stage name, PSY, which originated from the first three letters of the word psycho. PSY is popular in his home country because of the sarcastic lyrics of his songs and his humorous videos and stage performances.
The song title refers to the luxurious lifestyle associated with the rich and fashionable Gangnam section of the South Korean capital city of Seoul. (Gangham literally means "south of the river.") PSY compares the location to a sexy lady who knows when to be elegant and when to get wild.
I promised that all people on earth has heard this song, but no one will be tired of listening and dancing to this song.

We are the world

"We Are the World" is a song and charity single originally recorded by the “supergroup USA for Africa” in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album. Why were there so many big stars singing together? Its main purpose was to raise the fund for poor African people.
There are many Taiwan activities supporting the poor in Africa. Like 30 Hour Famine. The 30 Hour Famine campaign is World Vision Taiwan’s annual response to humanitarian emergencies around the world including natural and man-made disasters, the effects of climate change, the global food crisis, war and conflict and diseases. I joined the campaign once, and I realized that it’s so hard to tolerate hunger!!! Going through this event, I am able to put myself in their shoes. Hope they all have foods in Christmas!

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Today I want to introduce a song called Wake Me Up When September Ends, which is sung by Green Day. This song is my favorite English song. The song is about the death of singer's father but the MV is about anti-war.

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this about his father, who died of cancer on September 1st, 1982. At his father's funeral, Billie cried, ran home and locked himself in his room. When his mother got home and knocked on his badroom door, Billie just said, "Wake me up when September ends," which became the title of this song.

The MV is telling a story about a girl and a boy who were taken apart because of the conscription(徵兵). The boy took part in the war instantly. And the girl was waiting for him and didn't know whether the boy was alive or not......

I don't like war because a war may cause thousands of people dead and make many family broken...... So every time I see the MV, I always feel deeply sad.

Billie Jean

In these few weeks, we learned about Michael Jackson in the English class, so I want to introduce to you a song called "Billie Jean"! "Billie Jean" is the best song of all his songs I think, because the most amazing dance was from this song. Do you know which dance I mean? What I'm talking about is "moon walk"!
This song is about a girl who claimed that Jackson was the father of her child. Jackson based it on a woman who used to stalk him, writing him letters about her son whom she believed was his. Jackson rarely spoke about this woman, but he had a very hard time dealing with this unwanted attention, and he became more reclusive as a result. The song was his way of expressing his feelings without addressing her directly.
Although we have seen the MV before, "moon walk" didn't obviously appear in the MV. So I found a live version which has "moon walk" in it!

Moon Light

Today I will introduce a song called “moon light”. It’s sung by the aboriginal singer Wang Hong En. I heard this song when I was watching the TV show called “康熙來了”. I found the song is amazing and touching so I want to introduce to you.
Wang Hong En grew up in the mountains and his parents both went to the city to work so his grandma brought him up. Wang Hong En loves music, so he decided to go to Taipei. One night when he bade farewell to his grandma, his grandma told him that she would give him a gift. Wang was looking forward to the gift, but his grandma said”What I will give to you is moon light. I don’t have money, a phone and a computer, so I can’t contact you. So when you look at the moonlight, it represents my encouragement and care.” Wang felt cheated at that moment, and he departed.
However, Wang was not successful in Taipei, and he lived a bad live. One day, he was looking at the moon, he suddenly remembered his grandma and got many inspirations. Finally, he released his first album and made a song for his grandma called “moon light”. It’s the most famous song in his career.
He thought, the “moon light” is the best gift he has ever received.

Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong
And carry on
‘Cause I know
I don’t belong here in Heaven…”

This is a sad song written and sang by a famous American unplugged pop singer and composer Eric Clapton to memorize his 4-year-old son Conor who fell from a window of the 53-rd floor New York apartment building in March of 1991.

The death of his little boy gave Clapton a strong impact not only Conor was his only child but also was joining Clapton’s life at his late forties.  The sorrow was so huge that Clapton was isolated himself for a long period of time.  Finally, Clapton decided to pull himself together and starting working again.  Clapton dealt with the grief of his son’s death by co-writing “Tears in Heaven” with Will Jennings and this song has won several musical awards.

From the lyrics and melody, we feel the sadness and emptiness of a desperate father when he faces the biggest tragedy in life by losing his beloved child for good without saying goodbye.

As the song says, “I must be strong and carry on….”, if the child knows what his father has been through after his death, he would pray in heaven that his dear father goes on with his life with a strong and positive mind.

Most of all, the story tells us to cherish our friends and families while we can and treasure every moment we share with our beloved ones before it is too late.

Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree

I heard this song when I was a kid.At that time, I was not familiar with English, so I asked my mom what was this song about.
The song was based on an actual incident that occurred aboard a southern bus bound for Miami. One of the passengers explained to the driver that he was just out of prison, having served three years for passing bad checks. In a letter to his wife, he had written that she didn't have to wait for him; but if she still loved him and wanted to forgive him, she could let him know by tying a yellow ribbon around the only oak tree in the city square. As the bus nearing the man's hometown of White Oak, Georgia, the driver was asked to slow down so that all passengers could see whether the ribbon was in place. To everybody's surprise, there were hundreds of ribbons on oak trees. Everybody was cheering and the man couldn't say a word because he was surprised so much.
I was deeply touched by this story. And I swore to god that I will never commit any crime to put myself in such an awkward situation because I don't think my future wife would do the same thing and forgive me.
ha ha ha
